ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Bob Cupp
GOLF COURSE ARCHITECT
Biography
Born on December 27th, 1939, golf course architect and author Bob Cupp, was educated in Florida, graduating from the University of Miami and a Masters in Fine Arts through the US Army, Alaska. After a short career as a professional, Bob found that golf course design provided a natural way to combine his interests and launched a profession that has spanned nearly forty years. Before developing his own firm, Bob was a Senior Designer for Jack Nicklaus. In 1984, and with Jack’s blessing, Cupp Design was born. From that point forward, his name, as Bob says, became “a four letter word.”

Bob has won the “Best New Course Award” in Golf Digest on numerous occasions. His courses have hosted many events including US Opens, US Amateurs, numerous PGA Tour Events, as well as the European Open. Bob’s latest entry in Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Courses in America” is Hawk’s Ridge in Ball Ground, Georgia, inducted in its first year of eligibility. In 1992, Bob was named the first ever, “Designer of the Year” in Golf World. Bob has entered a new arena as well, writing his first effort, The Edict, a novel of the beginning of golf, published by Random House (Knopf) with a foreword by Jack Nicklaus.

Bob lives with his family in Atlanta. He continues to draw and paint, play golf, build furniture, sing, play the guitar and torture a cello.Contact us for more information >
